Teacher Tube

I used the link to Teacher Tube off of Dr. Heigle's Blog and I like what I saw. I had heard of this site briefly last semester in another course, but never got around to actually looking at it. It seems that it would be a great tool for both teachers and students alike. As a math teacher, it allows students to see specific types of problems worked out and explained from the convenience of a computer. It would also allow the students to work along at the same time so they could gain some confidence in doing it themselves and then moving on. I think it would be very beneficial if I were to create some videos for this site and direct my students to them as we came across that material. There are also many videos that could be great for teachers in expanding their use and understanding of technology for their classroom. I saw SMART board presentations, ELMO presentations, and working with PowerPoint shows just to name a few. Lastly for students with extended absences or work they need to get caught up on, this would be a great place to refer them to if I could post videos for the content that they missed.

  1. Great ideas, glad to see you got beyond the obvious and put some thought into how you might use Teacher Tube and how you might contribute to it. Well done!

  2. Shaun,
I couldn't agree more. I liked this site as well and plan to use it, not only for my students, but I will most likely be uploading some ideas as well. My classroom has a SMARTBOARD and it is amazing at what it allows me to do. Combining that technology with these teacher/schooltube ideas is certainly where education is going. Kind of makes me think we may have to add some type of "computer certificate" to our degree in the near future. Hmmm..... More schooling..... Ain't that somethin'?
